HTML & CSS
A multi-page website designed to explore TikTok’s transformative influence on the music industry, created as a final project for the Web and Mobile I course. The project combined structured wireframing, dynamic coding in HTML and CSS, and visual storytelling through custom GIFs made in Adobe Premiere Pro. Supported by an in-depth, 18-page written analysis, the final outcome seamlessly blended design, coding, and research to deliver a comprehensive digital experience, highlighting a passion for the intersection of music and technology.
"Seeing how intertwined music is within TikTok’s interface, it should come to no surprise that one of the largest communities on the app are people who share that interest with one another, whether it be finding connection in liking the same genre, artist, or even song. This makes a great playing field for those within music, since a widely enjoyed song can have the potential to become incorporated into every single aspect of the app for a certain amount of time, or in other words, “go viral.” Taking Doja Cat’s hit “Say So” as an example, the song was introduced to TikTok in late 2019 and as a result was widely loved through many dances, covers, and remixes. A dance in particular by user Haley Sharpe (@yodelinghaley) played a heavy hand in gaining the song so much traction, to the point where Doja Cat herself incorporated both Haley and her dance into the official music video. Alongside being nominated for many 2020 music awards, the song hit #4 and #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and currently sits at 900 million streams on Spotify."
